Yes, as you may have guessed from the title above, we’re going back to our roots with an exterior refurbishment that will see the return of our name “The Foresters Arms” above the doorway once more.
When the pub first opened in the 1880s, it had been built to serve the workers in Bushy Park – which is why it was given the name ‘The Foresters Arms’. It feels right to return to this name as we’re very proud of the building’s long-standing history and place within the local community.
That’s not all that’s changing, though. We’re also giving the exterior a general facelift with improvements to our outdoor area (including new furniture and heaters for those chilly evenings) and new window boxes to help us defend – or perhaps even better – the Silver title bestowed upon us in last year’s Richmond in Bloom awards.
This is the first in a three-phase investment into the pub, with the second phase coming at the end of May, which will include the refurbishment of the rooms into a boutique hotel. Finally, interior refurbishments will take place in the third phase, scheduled for September – all to make sure that we’re providing our customers with the best looking, comfiest and most welcoming pub in the area.
We’re not hanging about either – you may have noticed scaffolding is already up. But don’t let that stop you from popping in, we’re open as usual and doing our best to keep disruption to a minimum.
